Lochlin was created in the mid 2010’s, a life long dream to design and make under my own label. Creating a new label and renovating a new, old house - at the same time has its challenges, and then 2020 arrived...

…right at the point Lochlin was officially advertised in a Counties-wide annual (yes, annual..for 2020!) Bridal Magazine… Thankfully we’d just finished another home renovation marker, so those initial dark days in the beginning were brightened a little by fresh carpet upstairs (Nb. We had lived with floorboards for 7yrs).

Looking for the positive in a bad situation, I kept myself busy. Firstly, finishing a few home DIY projects, before B&Q shut… Lockdown was announced, I volunteered to make Scrubs for the local hospital via a national Scrubs group. That last DIY task being my work room.

Masks became mandatory, so those were made for the scrub group also. I used my stash of liberty prints for myself and family. Which is when I opened my Etsy store.

A special shout out to my nephew Jamie! Only really having prints my niece would like, I went looking for some nephew friendly ones. When asked if he'd like a "Super-hero" or "Space-themed" mask - I was given a very stern NO.... "Camoflage" received a much better reception. The Camoflage masks have been extreamly popular in both Child & Adult sizes - So Thank You Jamie !

Lockdown provided me a pause on everything, and time to be creative. The kind reviews from happy customers have been gratefully received and very much appreciated.
Embroidery is mindful, soothing and relaxing and I found myself creating kits from designs I’d created for myself. One of these being the range of Rainbows, a popular image this moment in time, a symbol of hope and fresh starts to come.

A tutorial/instructions on how to turn the embroidery panel into a wall hanging (as shown above on the right) will be avaialble in my next blog.

The day I started to write this blog (May 2021), the first rainbow i've seen in a while appeared in the sky.
